I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I am also a member in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA)
I hold a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from York University. My interest in mental health was piqued in the final year of my undergraduate program when I completed an honours thesis on body image perception among undergraduate students. I am also a graduate of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program from Yorkville University and have completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
I have worked as a therapist and psychometrist, supporting individuals and families. Through my experience, I am well equipped to guide you through various forms of emotional distress, including anxiety, trauma (and grief), life transitions and relationship difficulties. In sessions with me, I will help you delve into the root cause(s) of unhelpful thinking patterns, negative perceptions, and past hurts that may be holding you back.
I use a person-centred style that acknowledges where you are emotionally, and we would work collaboratively to find a direction that fits your needs. My approach is trauma-informed, solution-focused and incorporates behaviour modification and mindfulness meditation practice, among other techniques.
I enjoy travelling, art and culture and count myself fortunate to have spent my formative years in Lagos, Nigeria.
When I am not at the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends in nature. Giving back is central to my lifestyle, and an active part of my life entails volunteering with various communities. I volunteer with faith-based organizations, one of which is an international faith-based women’s group with members in several countries. Together, we promote awareness of issues (including mental health) that affect women and children, providing support and resources where possible.
In quiet moments, I enjoy reading novels. To date, my favourite books are Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart and Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. I believe so much about the human condition; the complex interplay between societal pressures and the human psyche can be gleaned from the rich characters in these novels.
