Marleen Filimon started PMPTherapy as a private practice with a vision to work with like-minded professional colleagues acting as a larger referral network.

The therapists listed below have their own specialization and work with different therapeutic modalities. Most of the sessions will use an eclectic approach, combining therapeutic techniques from different therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Social Skills Training, Spiritual Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and more.

DEANNA BERVOETS

Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist

I help children, youth and adults develop strategies to manage and cope with personal, social, and familial distress.  I specialize in working with families who are being impacted by divorce/separation.  In some cases, children are inadvertently caught in the middle of parents’ conflict, which sometimes leads to them struggling with self-regulation, aligning with one parent, hating the other parent, and much more.  These can have a detrimental impact, if children do not have a healthy outlet to share their feelings and work through their distress.

In my sessions I utilize a combination of techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy.  My experiences in the school board, outpatient mental health, and within child welfare have given me the tools to effectively work with a variety of people.  My passion for helping people stems from my own personal experiences.  Over the years, I have utilized these experiences to help others overcome their challenges.

Throughout my struggle, I was fortunate enough to have a great support network to help me recognize what is important in life. It is my belief that having emotional support is integral in the healing process. One of my colleagues once told me, “Without hope, we don’t get out of bed in the morning.” Hope is the foundation of our healing.

STEFANIE PEACHEY

Clinical Social Worker/Therapist

I work with individuals, couples, and families to help them be their best selves. Difficult, hurtful and negative experiences happen to most people in life, and I see my role as being one to help you to cope with the negative event or situation and lessen its impact on various aspects of your life.

In my sessions, I meet you where you are in your life. The sessions are your time to use as you see fit and to discuss what is most relevant for you.I utilize a variety of therapeutic interventions including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Trauma Informed Therapy. Together, we will examine how your experiences have shaped your beliefs andthoughts about yourself, others, and the world in which you live. I graduated from the University of Toronto in 2010 with a Master's Degree in Social Work after having completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Waterloo in 2006. Since this time, I have worked in various corners of Social Work with a major focus on clinical work and counselling. Though my experiences, both personal and professional, I have come to understand the importance of taking care of yourself and I believe that counselling is a big part of this. In our busy lives today, we often list ourselves at the bottom of the priority list and ignore how various life events, even from years past, continue to impact on who we are. I offer services to adolescents and adults that are experiencing, or have experienced, difficult life situations and transitions. I provide a safe space for clients to explore themselves, and help them develop new insights and skills. I offer sessions in both English and Farsi.

Mental health has a unique meaning for each of us. My own personal challenges have taught me how important it is to to have my own “emergency toolkit”; developing healthy coping skills, and having someone I can trust to speak to. Having that kind of support through my own challenges was what inspired me to take this professional path in counselling. My goal is to provide a safe and welcoming space where individuals experiencing mental health issues can turn their challenges into opportunities. Through comprehensive counselling and psychotherapy services, I aim to empower individuals to work towards improving their lives. Congratulations on taking this step!

I empower my clients to tap into their own self-awareness and help them to build and leverage their strengths by inviting them to be actively involved in their journey. I believe in creating a strong alliance and connection with my clients that is based on support and trust.

My therapeutic approach is personalized to the client, building on their strengths to discover ways to solve their problems and provide support. I combine elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness Approaches to create a relaxed atmosphere and work in a respectful manner.

I began working in this field as an Office Manager for a Psychologist while my young children were in school. Over the years, I realized that I had a passion for helping people, and eventually had the opportunity to work on achieving my goal of becoming a Therapist.
