Bio - Elaine Jahshan

Elaine specializes in Depression, Anxiety and Trauma. She uses a combination of CBT, ACT and Gottman techniques in her sessions.

I graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2019.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO and a member in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Work

I started my mental health work experience in psychological research and quickly learned the significance and powerful effects of the therapeutic relationship on mental health. I then shifted my focus to counselling and wanted to directly help individuals work through their issues collaboratively.

Since graduating I have worked with individuals, couples and families dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship issues. I had the opportunity to work at a university campus as the counsellor for undergraduate students and moved to community-based counselling centers and private practice.

I work with CBT, ACT, solution-focused therapy, client-centered, EFT and Level 1 Gottman Therapy.

Personal Life

Some of the most fulfilling ways I spend my time are with my family, friends, reading, exercising and playing tennis, and catching up on some of my favorite movies and television shows.

Family is the most important thing to me and my life was recently changed when I had a baby. I also enjoy learning languages and travelling. I speak Arabic fluently and a little French. I am passionate about mental health, sports and coffee.
