What Therapy Looks Like Here
Therapy at Private Matters isn’t one-size-fits-all. We take a collaborative, personalized approach that’s grounded in evidence-based practices and shaped by who you are. Our team is trained in modalities like CBT, ACT, EMDR, mindfulness, and parts work, but just as important is how we show up: with care, curiosity, and respect for your pace.
We’re not here to analyze you from a distance. We’re here to be alongside you, helping you make sense of what’s happening, build new tools, and reconnect with parts of yourself you may have lost along the way. Whether you’re starting from scratch or returning to therapy after a break, we’ll meet you where you are.
Did you know? You don't need to explain everything perfectly for therapy to work. Half the time, people start by saying, "I don't even know where to begin".
What We Can Help You With
People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons, some clear, some harder to name. You don’t need a diagnosis to deserve support. Talk therapy can help you work through:
- Anxiety, overthinking, or constant worry
- Depression, low mood, or emotional numbness
- Grief, loss, or life after change
- Burnout, stress, and people-pleasing
- Big life transitions (parenthood, career, relationships)
- Childhood trauma, emotional neglect, or complex family dynamics
- Identity exploration, self-worth, and confidence
- Loneliness, disconnection, or feeling “stuck”
- Relationship struggles or separation
- Anger, shame, or feelings that feel too big
And sometimes, it’s just about having a space that’s yours, to reflect, unpack, and start making sense of things.
What to Expect from Sessions
Your first session is about getting to know you, not diving into everything all at once. We’ll start with a conversation about what’s been going on, what you’re hoping for, and how we can work together. You set the pace. You don’t have to talk about anything before you’re ready.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes and can take place virtually or in person, depending on your location and preferences. Some clients come weekly, others bi-weekly, your therapist will help you decide what feels right based on your goals and capacity.
This is a space where you don’t have to perform, fix, or figure it all out right away. We’ll move at your rhythm, checking in often to make sure therapy feels useful and grounded.
Healing doesn't always look like breakthroughs. Sometimes, it looks like finally exhaling.
You Are in the Right Place If…
This kind of therapy is for anyone who’s feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or simply ready for things to feel different, even if you don’t know what “different” looks like yet.
Maybe you’ve been holding it together for everyone else.
Maybe you’ve tried all the usual coping strategies and still feel off.
Maybe a part of you is scared to open up, and another part is tired of carrying it alone.
We work with adults and youth (12+) from all walks of life, including folks navigating trauma, identity exploration, burnout, and major life changes. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’re coming back after a break, you’re welcome here.
