Liz Toth

Junior Therapist

Liz is a registered psychotherapist (qualifying). She applies ACT, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based therapy and CBT in her therapy sessions.

Liz's Other Professional Interests

Liz has a gentle interest in supporting people going through grief that doesn’t follow expected patterns. She's also curious about working with those questioning the stories they've carried about themselves since childhood.

Education

My education includes a Bachelor’s degree from Trent University and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

Work Experience

In addition to my time as a therapist, I have experience volunteering in the not-for-profit sector which has provided me with an opportunity to appreciate challenges that individuals from different walks of life face.

My volunteer experience includes working with an organization supporting male survivors of domestic violence and children to raise awareness and support. I have also spent time as a phone responder for a distress and crisis centre, where I helped individuals cope with suicidal ideation, anxiety, loneliness, and a range of other struggles.

My work experience has taught me to listen without judgment, and to remain empathetic to unspoken challenges that individuals may be facing. I am consistently in awe at the courage and resilience people carry. I am honoured to walk beside them as they improve their lives and understand themselves in a way that makes sense to them.

Personal

When I am not working or spending time with friends, family, or my partner, you can find me at home catching up on my favourite podcasts or reading.

I love going on road trips, trail walks, chasing sunsets, and live music. I spent my teenage years in cottage country, and love going back to visit to spend as much time by the water as possible.

I adore animals – sharing pictures of pets is welcome! As a life-long-learner, I find joy in self-exploration and discovery, striving to be the best version of myself and helping others do the same. Some of the ways I care for myself include daily journaling, practicing yoga, painting, and giving myself permission to rest when needed. Practicing mindfulness helps me make sense of my thoughts and emotions and make them feel more manageable.
