Ryan is a Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying specializing in Trauma, Anxiety, and OCD and uses CPT, CBT and Exposure and Response Prevention techniques in his sessions.

Education

As a Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying (RPQ) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), I’ve pursued a diverse educational journey. It all began with my undergraduate studies in Psychology at York University.

Seeking to deepen my understanding, I obtained an Ontario Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health from Humber College. Building on this foundation, I pursued my passion for therapy, earning a Master of Science in Psychotherapy from McMaster University. These educational experiences have equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide compassionate and effective therapy to my clients.

Work Experience

Over the years, I have volunteered and worked in various roles within the Addictions and Mental Health field. These experiences have provided me with deep insights into the multifaceted nature of mental health and addiction, allowing me to develop a strong sense of empathy and understanding for those I serve.

I expanded my knowledge in trauma therapy at Homewood Health Centre in Guelph Ontario, where I worked in the Guardians Unit with first responders. This role refined my skills in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and deepened my knowledge of the complex relationship between trauma and substance use disorders.

My journey then took me to the Anxiety Treatment and Research Clinic (ATRC) at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. There, I provided Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to individuals dealing with

  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and
  • Substance Use issues.

These varied experiences have shaped me into a well-rounded practitioner, ready to address various mental health challenges with compassion and expertise.

Personal Life

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy skiing, camping and watching Formula 1.

Music also plays a significant role in my life; I enjoy playing the guitar, exploring different genres and frequenting concerts. I love to travel, exploring cities and urban spaces. I have a passion for cooking and am always eager to learn new recipes and techniques.

These activities not only provide relaxation and enjoyment but also help me maintain a balanced and fulfilling life. I believe that a well-rounded personal life enhances my ability to connect with clients and understand their experiences on a deeper level.
